how long should it take to start feeling better after stent ? Had mine 3 weeks ago and still not feeling much better . Walked for 15 minutes yesterday and legs felt like I had run a marathon . Don’t seem to have any stamina at all 😢woke up this morning feeling crap , sore throat so maybe getting cold or something . Chest feels quite heavy as well , not sure if it’s down to the beta blockers slowing everything down . Have echo on sat to check blood flow , so they give an answer ? Maybe I’m just expecting too much too soon ? Just want to start feeling like my 60 years of age instead of 80 . Waiting for cardiac rehab to call to start excercise . Sorry for long rant , but just feel frustrated and fed up today 😢

my husband started with ten minutes walk per day, 15 the next few days, then up to 20 twice a day and so on. Back to normal by six weeks ish, at age 59.

I have stents and it does take time to feel better and also to come to terms emotionally with everything. Just take your time you’ll have to do things slower than you used to at first and build up. I remember feeling very frustrated that I couldn’t do what I wanted but you have to let your body and mind recover and get used to and accept a new you.

I didnt start feeling something like normal for 4 to 5 weeks. In the 5th week i could walk up.to 5 mikes in a day but I had to have an early night. At the moment in my 6th week im averaging around 2.5 to 3 miles a day. I sawed up.some timber with a hand saw yesterday and i was surprised that i didnt find it too hard or waant pouring in sweat. I still get a bit of discomfort in my chest like i did yesterday, but not intolerable just annoying. Didnt require GTN.

During the first 4 weeks i had discomfort and my chest felt tight mostly in the evenings but i just took some paracetamol and that seemed to help. I did have to use my GTN a couple of times but it was only week 2. But since then ive not needed it so far.

The problem is you can get into a vicious cycle where you worry that much about getting pains you get really anxious which brings on a pain or makes a little one feel worse. That happened a lot in the first 4 weeks.

Now when im tired I get pains in my wrists and hands I womder if its vessels spasming or its referred pain becuase my heart is tired. When i had my heart attack i had really bad pain in my left wrist and hand, they say the nerves that register pain from your arm and hand go to the same area in the brain that regiaters heart pain as well. So when you have a heart attack you can also feel pain in unrelated areas. Sometimes your jaw, neck or backnas well.

Must admit , my hands are very stiff , especially the right where the catheter was inserted in the wrist , and you’re right about the worry . Always on my mind , and it’s easy to look for symptoms . Makes you hyper aware . Hopefully in a few weeks I’ll start to forget the stents there and relax and accept it’s just part of me

Everyone is different there are no rules here except to take your time and keep positive. I was 67. had 3 stents in after heart attack, was home in 36 hours, went to local shop the next day and walked a mile the day after. But I felt fine and my son was with me. I changed my attitude to life slimmed 3 stone only eat healthy food. Followed the heart healthy book to the letter. but 6 month down the line a started to flag and gradually been getting worse.

You are not ranting you are looking for help. The only people with the answers are the doctors but they are just too busy.

The test you are going to get will tell you one thing. Your Ejection Factor. I says a lot about what you can and can't do. Medications take an age to get used to, so don't worry. Its a long slog to get better. Work on your diet. It gave me a goal to achieve and will help with your recovery.

Good luck mate.
