bisoporol : hi everyone I am eating... - British Heart Fou...
bisoporol
Bisoprolol spaced me out at 3.75, reduced to 1.25 and half a 1.25 tablet of Rampiril sorted it out. No issues with weight gain. I’ve tracked calories and protein intake for a number of years and closely followed a weights lifting training program , got a good insight to into basal metabolic rate , calories in and out etc. There’s not many ways to avoid the physics of thermodynamics , energy in and out. Have you tracked your step count over the period ? Just general activity accounts for more calories burned than any gym session 🤣👍🏻. How long has it taken to gain the weight ? We’ve had adverse weather , Xmas etc , naturally less activity. Do you know what calories you are eating ? I’m sure you’ll find a way round it Gussy. I’m 62 this year and very aware of the need to keep weight sensible and activity up for quality life and health . I’m on a cocktail of drugs post Nstemi and quadruple bypass lady July but thankful to be back working round our small holding , lifting weights and jogging . I’m all over my nutrition , made a couple of changes to what I thought was great diet 🤦🏼.
as DWizza says. The website of British Heart Foundation has advice on diet and lifestyle changes, maybe if you read this you will be reassured?
Well meaning as advice is (and it may be correct) don’t forget that weight gain is an indicator for heart failure. I take Bisoprolol and I don’t know if that is the issue or not but I eat between 1200 and 1500 calories per day. Although my exercise level is reduced while waiting for my op, I still work a 40 hour week in a school with young children so I’m fairly active. When I did similar things while waiting for my gallbladder op 7 years ago I dropped 3 stone. This time I’ve dropped 6 pounds in over a year. No alcohol, little fat. So yes, it may be the meds but equally it could be the poorly advertised heart failure weight gain. Unfortunately, the press seem to think that we’re all lazy, obese and have poor lifestyles if we have heart disease. Most depressing.
Traveldreams, lots if people assume the same thing. I was talking to someone in a pub and they said do you know what caused your HA and Simone standing beside me answered “well it’s your lifestyle isn’t it”. Made me really cross, I have never smoked I dint drink and have an average diet where I did eat the odd bag of crisps etc but nothing that you would say was vey unhealthy. Looking very much like family history for me which had never been picked up.
You’re spot on. My Dad, who spent his entire life being chastised for being underweight, had the same issue as I’ve got. Grandma and Aunt the same. My arteries are clear. I eat healthier than most people because I’ve grown up knowing we have this issue in the family. People just judge it’s a weight/lifestyle choice. I definitely don’t reflect the weight/shape or heart health of my lifestyle. It’s almost more irritating than the actual issue. Thanks for sharing your experience.
