Hi everyone Looking for reassurance as im going out of my mind with worry

Last year i began experiencing perimenopause symptoms anxiety being the worse. A gp discovered a heart murmur during an exam reffered for an echocardiogram i met with the cardiologist who said that there was a slight thickening of the heart muscle and as my dad passed away young he was referring me for further tests . He didnt seem to think my chest pain was heart related and said i could continue with hrt if needed and i would see him in 3 months for results.

I take ramipril 10mg also propanalol.

I ad a ct with dye scan 2 weeks ago and my mri is next month

I have visited a and e numerous times as the chest pain is horrendous every time all ecg x rays and bloods are normal however they did show inflammation once.

Every day is a nightmare the anxiety is unbearable i dont know if its my heart or worry causing my chest pain but its horrible. 😢

Hi Star450, I wanted to reply because nobody else has yet. I am not in your position but I am a women of a certain age who's husband had a HA and has HF. I do understand how debilitating anxiety can be. I just wanted to reach out to you and let you know that you are not alone. I hope you get the help you need and wish you well.

I’m not a medic, but can I offer a bit of assurance? I’ve heard that a heart murmur can be heard in pregnancy and it goes away again once you’ve had a miscarriage or birth. Caused by hormones. So it’s possible that this is a menopause thing and just nothing to worry about.

Read up about menopause on the NHS. Do breathing exercises for anxiety, Search for menopause charities on line (and not Dr Google) to see what help they can give.

Dr google is the worse 🙈 thank u ❤️

I sympathise - menopause has a lot to answer for and can be hugely debilitating. Anxiety and palpitations are definitely symptoms. I have SVT which was diagnosed during peri menopause - I’m sure the changing hormones contribute to the condition. Mindfulness has helped me cope with the anxiety.

Hi I was diagnosed with heart murmur, ectopic heart beats , SVT in my 20’s. Now 52 and past year I e become very symptomatic. My daughter also has SVT and Wolf Parkinson White do we are both under electrophysiologist cardiologist . I also now get chest pain that I never used to experience but they usually attribute this to anxiety and say it can be due to a myriad of things , muscular, oesophagus etc . I’m about to have a loop recorder implanted due to passing out twice in the last couple of years and a persistence in worsening symptoms this past year . I started HRT 10 months ago but symptoms continue . I’d advise to keep a diary of what you were doing, when , how you felt so they can get a picture of what this is and how it affects you. I have a Kardia app which allows me to monitor my heart rate but these apps can make you become obsessive which can make anxiety worse until you get used to what all your different readings can mean . Good luck and make sure you are heard … advocate as strongly as you need .

Thank u so much ❤️ i know they are looking for cardiomyopathy amongst other things its a worry they have put my chest pain down to anxiety but obviously you are going to think its your heart :( i hope your symptoms improve soon xx

it must be ditressing for you to have these symptoms and feel you are not getting the right help - i hope you find some answers and support soon

meanwhile, may i suggest that as a woman you might want to look up some of the posts here about Microvascular issues and INOCA - if it seems like a good fit you could discuss this with your doctor

and many people live with heart murmurs all their lives, many of them are harmless even though they sound a bit scary - at least you are being followed up

Thank u for replying i have yes im hoping if its anything like that the ct or mri will pick it up i know they testing for cardiomyopathy and whether its genetic or due to blood pressure being high xx
