Ventricular Tachycardia - Just been told

Hi

I have just joint this forum and hoping for some advice or what to expect.

Had a 24 hours heart monitor two weeks ago as had some symptoms and today the GP rang me with the results, he said its not great news, he said it showed my heart rate through the night at a few times was 191 and was only ever down at any point in he 24 hour period to 99.

He said it was likely to be Ventricular Tachycardia and that the top two chambers were not working, he has sent me for an urgent cardiology apt and will wait for that to come through, he said if i get any chest pain be over cautious and go to AandE straight away. I was at work when i took the call so as you can imagine couldn't really talk.

So now have a million questions and wondered if this is serious and should be worried?

The symptoms i went to GP with in the first place are

Heart felt like racing at times

Cough that wont go away and heart will race and make me cough

Wake in the night like I cant breath and have to cough sort of gasping for air

Rib pain(not sure is related)

So now worried and probs wont get seen for two week, anyone had similar ?

Thank you

I've had two nights of Junctional Rhythm some months back but it has not reoccurred. This is when the normal sinus rhythm in the top Atrium does not pulse and the AV node takes over and only fires the ventricles.I read at the time that if it comes back I may need a pacemaker.

Perhaps someone with more info can drop in here. Take care.

I have ventricular Tachycardia and it's only very slight though my heart rate went up to 159 and I was having constant ectopics because I was getting light headed with the palpitations I was put on verapamil 40mg x2. I'm so sorry your feeling so unwell with this 💔😕. Have you told your GP how you been feeling so they can see you more urgently x. Have you been checked for asthma? I felt like this when my asthma was getting worse and I would wake up gasping for air and coughing for like 9 hours straight! And my heart rate would go up to 170 from coughing 💔. Not trying to scare you but I ended up in hospital for 2 weeks on a heart ward because the respiratory infections and asthma attack severely affected my heart. I really hope they don't leave you waiting for ages for an appointment xx

Can you have vt amd a healthy normal heart on echo?

I'm not sure about that you would have to ask your cardiologist that I'm afraid x

I felt really ill and my husband rang 111 and an ambulance came. I was having 34,000 extra beats and taken to hospital for a week wired up I didn’t have a pacemaker/ defibrillator straight away it was a few months later when I had it fitted they changed my tablets. I feel so much better now nearly back to doing normal activities. Once in hospital you are constantly monitored and have mri/ other tests until they get to the bottom of it. Don’t take any chances if you feel worse go to A&E or call an ambulance even if they just check you out at home. Good luck.

VT or SVT? Most people have SVT which isn’t immediately life threatening. SVT originates in the top of the heart. VT however is more dangerous. It originates in the ventricles and is associated with sudden cardiac death.

I have none sustained ventricular tachycardia, SVT, paf. Mostly well controlled on medication. It’s when ventricular tachycardia becomes continuous that’s the issue.

hi I have had 4 beat run of Vt and have been on bisoprolol but I have a structurally normal heart apart from pfo and mild regurgitation nobody seems concerned but yet I am my father passed by cardiac arrest they suspect aarithmia it took two years for them to pick up sinus tachycardia and run of Vt but said structurally my heart is fine but I’m convinced i will die from Vt I also have a blood clotting condition

Hey Carissa, how did you find out that you have VT? I had an EKG holter for 7 days. And he showed one short VT. It was registered in my sleep. I am attaching a picture below. I have an appointment with a cardiologist soon. I am afraid of what he will tell me. Can the device make a mistake? That holter was looked at by one of the cardiologists, but the main opinion is given by my cardiologist. Maybe cardiologists look at and interpret the EKG differently. Otherwise, I am treated with SVES and VES. I drink bisoprolol 2.5 mg a day. Otherwise, I have never had a VT before, and I have had a holter many times. and every time it was fine, except for some SVES and VES. Where did this VT (ventricular tachycardia) appear now.

To je ekg holter gdje je VT.Pitam se da li može biti i nešto drugo a ne VT.
