Got no advice, but in the same position - planned a ski trip for mid Feb and had stents fitted in July. I can’t see any issues but will certainly be carrying my GTN Spray for the first few runs at least! I presume it will depend on altitude to a degree as well, but look forward to reading comments - thanks for posting the question 👍👍

Am in similar situation. No heart attack or stents but had triple bypass last Feb and booked skiing for end of January.... Can't wait! Cardiologist said no reason why I can't but just take it easy and gauge effect altitude has before exerting self too much.... Bit of walking first, lower slopes before heading up higher.

I have skied since a heart bypass and stents and due to go again in March. My advice would be too listen to your body. As previously suggested get acclimatised for the first few days, take your GTN with you and often I sit out the odd run if feeling tired. A good excuse for a relaxing drink in a cafe! I also will be probably be taking a few half days off. But generally just go at your own pace and have fun!!!

Yes, I have continued to ski, after 2 heart attacks and stents. I'm careful not to go when it's really cold and take breaks now and then. I'm not going bell to bell anymore, either. 4-5 hours is fine.

I had Type A Aortic Dissection in 2019 and my Cardiac Surgeon would not approve my request to go skiing. I then had 2 mini strokes and Endocarditis in 2022. My Cardiologist also refused my request to go skiing on the grounds that the exertions of skiing in sub zero temperatures at high altitude could have an adverse impact on my already fragile blood pressure.

I am in my mid sixties and have been on annual ski trips for over 35 years. I have accepted the medical advice for now…..but I haven’t given up on the possibility of skiing again sometime in the future even if it is only on blue runs.

Hi, I'm a mad keen skier, but have had to give this season a miss due to coronary artery disease diagnosis and currently waiting for a triple bypass. Hoping to do some skiing next season (optimistic?) - similar to WestCorkHeart, "even if it is only on blue runs". Very interested in any other experiences and how people who have been have coped, including CABG patients...
