hello Goldengirl (love the name,). You do seem to be quite distressed by your symptoms. We on this forum aren’t doctors so we cannot diagnose you.

It would be a good idea, I think, for you to contact the British Heart Foundation. Contact details on their website. I’ve not contacted them myself but other posters have said how helpful they are.

There are treatments for bradycardia and heart failure. Very good treatments. If you’ve been diagnosed, after having tests, you will be treated by a cardiologist appropriately to your situation.

I’ve been under heart failure nurses and doctors for 20yrs so they know me. My heart is badly failing so are my lungs and kidneys. I have an underlying illness which originally caused it. I had to have various test to inform the cardiologist what’s actually happening to my heart. Only the past 5 yrs I’ve seen them 6 monthly or even less. Over the years it’s been once a year seeing them and heart failure nurse 6 monthly.

When you see the cardiologist they will explain more to you. Patients is the key these days. If you feel ill just keep going a&e tell them you’re waiting for cardiologist appointment. You can also contact the secretary of the cardiologist and find where you are with your appointment.

I think it’s a postcode lottery, some on here do pay to go private. Most times it’s the same cardiologist doing private and NHS work.

All the best.

You're right about the NHS postcode lottery. I was diagnosed as having left ventricular systolic dysfunction in March 2016 following a cardiac arrest and time spent in a coma with multiple organ failure and was never offered cardiac rehab, nor appointments with anyone on the cardiology team.

Seven years on, I still have no cardiology team and haven't seen anyone in the heart failure team.

You should talk to your doctor. They’re handing a lot of the decisions over to the GPs. Seems like you’ve been forgotten and your Gp should be your first point of contact to sort things out for referrals

That won't happen. He is as much use as a chocolate teapot. I'm originally from Hampshire where I was being treated for several serious medical conditions which I thought would continue when I relocated to East Sussex to care for a friend. The new GP has repeatedly ignored consultants' recommendations and refused to treat the conditions I arrived here with. I gave up asking him for any help years ago.

You should look around for a new Gp or write a complaint to the practice manager.

No local practice will take me on as they haven't caught up with new rules that came in years ago that got rid of fixed catchment areas. I have already looked around and hit a brick wall. I'm happy continuing to take care of myself without the GP's input as I have survived more than 30 years of heart failure without local support.

I'm preparing to move back home to Hampshire as I am more likely to get help there. It's no coincidence that Eastbourne is known as God's waiting room. I found out why they got that reputation when I moved here in 2014

I don't have the Strenght to look around for new gp, so I'll. And I thought of write to Manager , bug if whole of Doctors same , couldn't give a hoot, receptionists same . It likely all Superiors and Managers will be same . Thankyou tho. X

I don't think there are meds for most heart conditions. But there are many that can be given to help factors that lead to heart condition. I have had a heart attack but my meds are not there to treat a heart attack but to reduce the risk of another. Blood thinners and anti inflammatories and oxidents and blood pressure reducers etc.

Non treated a heart attack as such but help reduce another.

I had a friend I cared for and he had a mountain of pills for reducing his risk of heart failure affecting his life too much.

Hello Anyman, thanks for ur Reply . I see all ur meds are basically to stop another heart attack. Blood thinners , anti inflammatory, bp reducers . Do u mean all the pills afecthis life to much ? Or heart failure . Couldhe go out , I can hardly go out . Then, it's in a taxi . 🙂

What I'm trying to say is that pills are not a cure. Which was your question. They are to try to manage a better life whilst living with heart failure. My friend could go out yes. But with my assistance.

I agree with you. Back in the early 90s, a friend of mine advised me to ask for an echocardiogram as I had all the symptoms of heart failure and my friend worked in cardiology (retired cardiologist living in Scotland). I have so far been refused investigations by every GP I asked when I moved house since then. I decided to look for ways to live with heart failure and managed to live more than 30 years with it.

There is a new drug for heart failure called jardiance if you have preserved ejection it is for diabetics but if your not diabetic it still works helping breathing I've found it useful

I have just checked the side effects and I already have a lot of those as symptoms of heart failure and uncontrolled Diabetes. Since I have heart failure, random dangerous levels of low blood pressure and type 2 Diabetes, I think I will give that one a miss.
