I just got diagnosed with tachycardia after having an episode where my heart went 210bpm. It’s terrified me I’m scared to sleep I’ve been to see a cardiologist and he has prescribed me bisoprolol but I’m still getting really anxious and that sinking feeling. Palpitations, the feeling of dread and chest pain. I’m so scared I’m exhausted I have had such a stressful few days so thinking it’s my anxiety playing up and just making me worse (my anxiety is constantly thinking I’m going to die, have a heart attack have a stroke I’ve suffered with anxiety since 2014) and I’m reading things online it’s the worst thing to do I wish I never done it now x

Hi Emily. First of all thankyou for posting your concern with your health, there are plenty of friendly people on here to help you with advice about how you are feeling at the moment. I have the same problems what you are experiencing since September 2022, my heart rate has been as high as 220bpm and I know from experience is a scary situation because when it happens you just don't know what to do. Palpitations of the heart is a serious matter but your Anxiety on a daily basis won't be helping, try and find ways to help with your Anxiety. It sounds to me that you have health Anxiety, have you already been to see your GP to talk about what's going on? Also I would make appointment with talking threpist part of the NHS, they could help you. Are you talking to any family members about how you are feeling at the moment? At bed time I would try some relaxing music to help with your Anxiety. Try not to worry about anything, I know it's a hard thing to do and especially don't Google things about your health that's my advice.Take care.
Hi Emily. Yes, it is very frightening to have such a high heart rate. I've had rates at 240+ with Atrial Fibrillation so know the feeling too well.
I hope that the Bisoprolol will help you. If not then do get back to your cardiologist ( via his secretary?) to see if you need a higher dose or different beta blocker. Otherwise do speak to your GP.
Best wishes
J
