An MRI of the heart may show things such as the blood flow to your heart, the presence of ischaemia, congenital heart defects, and coronary artery disease. If your results are urgent, they would ideally get back to you within a week. If they are not considered an emergency, it may take a couple of weeks to a couple of months. If you don’t hear back from them in the first 2 weeks, maybe give the department a call to chase it up.

Good luck for the scan.

I had a MRI in June for the heart as I had palpitations and afib. I think it lasted around an hour. Most of the MRI was straight forward but there was a point where they inject something to stress the heart. It’s a weird sensation where you start to feel flushed and your heartbeats like you are working out but laying down. Apart from the stress test and being in such an inclosed space it was ok I stressed myself out unnecessarily. They talk to you throughout and you are monitored all through it so you will be in good hands. Had the MRI on 9th June and got my results on 16th June, but this was private and the results were all clear.

Not what you're looking for?
