I believe it’s safe to have an MRI with a stent in. This NHS leaflet has some more information on it.

I highly doubt you would’ve been offered one if there was an issue with it as the doctors have your medical history to hand. You can always go back to the department and ask them to clarify.

All the best.

I’ve had an MRI since getting stents.

I've got 4 stents and sternum wires and have had numerous MRIs. The only thing I've been told I must remove is my Free Style Libre for my diabetes.

I had an MRI very recently, I spoke to the radiographer who assured me that as the stent had only been fitted 7 months ago it would be perfectly safe. It seems to depend on when the stent was fitted and what metal it’s made of.

I’ve got a stent and have had three MRI’s since it was fitted.

No side-effects…

Yes, but make sure you mention it to the techs, before you go in the machine, otherwise they get upset lol

When you go for your MRI the radiographer will give you a safety questionnaire, which will ask questions like have you got any implants etc. if they feel it is unsafe for you to go ahead with the MRI they will not do it. With stents I believe it depends on what they are made of. Since having aCABG x3 and appendage clip I have safely had an MRI but they did check what the appendage clip was made of before proceeding.

My husband has a stent and has been OK with MRI's. However, his Rolex watch threw a wobbler, so would recommend you remove your watch, whatever brand.

Think so. When having my scan I do recall stating I had a new (metal)hip. A voice said "put him in the other way, haha." Things have probably improved in thr last 50 years, haha.
