Hello, was in hospital for a-fib, diagnosis at discharge was diastolic chf. Just looking for others with the same condition for help and tips. Really worried at the moment. Put on some medications, Metoprolol, lasix, and Xarelto, along with baby aspirin. First appointment with cardio doctor will be in a few days. Was in hospital for a week, swelling mostly in left foot, ankle and calf. Put through tests and had paddle shock for the a-fib. Worried that it might return because was told that it could happen when I asked about everything I could think of at the moment.

Hi BeKind28-, thank you so much for the reply. Saw the first appointment doctor yesterday, didn't go bad at all, however found out the electric paddle didn't work, back in a-fib. I decided to just monitor the symptoms for now with the hopes of it not getting any worse such as increased swelling in foot area, the water pill I'm on is doing a pretty good job. Metoprolo dose was increased a bit to keep heart rate lower as well, and blood thinner is a must from here on out. Watching sodium very carefully in diet as well as cutting back on daily fluid intake, and I'll be looking to get back to gym to exercise but not over-doing it.

Hello :-)

That sounds like a plan and hope it has made you feel better :-)

I only ever use low salt and that is only in some foods when I am cooking I have stopped putting any on my meals at all at first I missed it but now if someone puts it on my meal I do not like the taste of it anymore so it is surprising how we adapt :-)

Wishing you all the best :-) x
