ICD beeping at 5am

My husband had his ICD fitted 2 weeks ago, I heard it beeping yesterday morning at roughly 5am, it only beeped for a short while, does anyone know what this means? I know my husbands arrhythmia is worse when he's sleeping, it hasn't beeped since x

Some devices beep, some vibrate and some do both. It all depends on the manufacturer, but generally a beep will indicate that it has detected some sort of technical issue. For example, some brands will beep if you come too close to a magnet. Some will beep if there is a battery or sensing lead issue.

This page offers an overview between some of the warning beeps and vibrations from the main manufacturers, which you might find useful: suddencardiacarrestuk.org/i...

All in all, I'd be tempted to give the clinic a quick call and query the beep. They will be able to run through the various beeps that are possible to help you distinguish temporary and innocuous warnings from something more serious. And, of course, if there were something more serious, then the clinic would probably already know about it via your husband's remote monitor.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for mentioning this because I just went into that link EmmJayTea posted and I was so surprised to find out our devices actually have alerts.

Months ago I woke up, made my bed up and a beeping sound was going off. I was looking everywhere, it wasn’t coming from my phone, outside or my monitor. I felt it was coming from me but I thought that’s impossible. I kept looking everywhere but the beeping sound was still going off, eventually it stopped. I also felt if it was my device the monitor would flash and maybe the clinic would call me. By the time I had my appointment I completely forgot to mention it, and they didn’t mention anything unusual happened with my device. Very strange

Thanks for answering, we think that it was an alert because he hadn't linked his device, he doesn't have a monitor and had to link it to the phone app, which is now up and running and all is well, its just strange no one at the hospital said anything about alerts and there's nothing in any of the literature we were given about weird noises lol x

Very true. I have a remote clinic next month. If they call me I will ask them. If not I will have to wait 6 months.

Hi, it's an implantable cardioverter defibrillator, it's usually implanted below the left shoulder and it does the same as a defibrillator but automatically inside you if your heart starts messing about x
