Digestive/heart Issues?

hi everybody, I had some serious digestive issues about 3 years ago (unsure if it was related to anxiety) they went on for about 1 year then completely went away felt great for about 2 years and 1 month ago they’ve come back (exact same symptoms however I’m much more anxious this time)

My symptoms are

-pressure in chest and my head

-lower abdominal pain

-alot of nausea

-stomach pain/lower back pain

-feeling sick after food

-bloating (feeling pressure especially after food)

-alot of burping (sometimes struggling)

-shortness of breath

-dizziness

-heart rate alters between slow and fast (one week 50bpm resting and another can be 150-200bpm)

These symptoms were the exact same as 3 years ago only difference is that I’m very anxious this time I cant even go into work as I’m feeling so weak and dizzy, on the verge of panic attacks which aren’t fun.

my question is has anyone else dealt with this kind of thing? And has anyone found a way to beat it? I don’t know how I beat it before, it just went away

Are you being treated for a heart or blood pressure condition at the moment ? Do you have any other diagnosed health conditions?

Just asking , as I don't want to give you advice to do something if you've already tried it or been tested for it.

Even if you are being treated for something , and even if you also suffer from Anxiety this increase in physical symptoms need investigating.

You should contact the GP and request an urgent appointment, preferably face to face , but if the first one available is over the phone take it as when they hear your symptoms they will ask you to come in to the surgery for the first available appointment anyway.

Keep a symptom diary , noting when you get the pain or symptoms, where they are , how bad it is from 1-10, Other symptoms you get , like dizziness and what you were doing just before it happened, and the spikes if heart rate you have. Show this to a doctor or consultant it helps you not to forget something you need to mention when you are nervous at appointments and helps them to see a pattern in your symptoms which narrows down what to test for.

Heart problems can cause digestive symptoms, but equally digestive problems can cause heart symptoms , you need to find out which one is troubling you.

If you are not undergoing any treatment and having very high tachycardia with other symptoms call 111 or go to Aand E, even if things turn out to be ok it's better safe than sorry and it will give proof within your medical records that these sudden events keep happening. Try and pace your day and relax and breath when you can it will help you to cope until things have been diagnosed.

Take care , Bee

Hello :-)

Some of us will relate to some of your symptoms but the only way to find out what is going of is seeing your Doctor which I would do

If the symptoms get any worse go to A&E

Anxiety will add to how you feel but get checked out and let us know how you get on :-) x

Presumably you have arranged an appointment with your GP as so many symptoms need sorting out. They may or may not be connected.

Some of the symptoms suggest a problem with the Vagus nerve, but others, like shortness of breath, may not be connected.

The vagus nerve is hugely important and there is a large amount of material about it online from lots of medical sources.

I have had a lot of these symptoms, and after much investigation my cardiologist is convinced they are due to reflux (exacerbated by the aspirin I take, am switching to plavix as a test next week). The problem is that vagus nerve runs down the center of the chest, I was told, and it's very hard to distinguish between heart issues and digestive issues. It was causing me a lot of anxiety, which only makes reflux worse (and isn't good for the heart, either). Mine has come and gone, was really bad this summer but seems to have cleared up for now. No idea why. But definitely see your cardiologist to rule out heart issues. (and try to get an appointment at a gastroenterologist)
