had to cancel our holiday paid in full . Will insurance cover or because he has Angina will it be classed as existing condition.

There's not really enough info here, and each insurance company will be different. I'm afraid only the company will be able to answer this.

Have they a letter from the doctor advising them not to travel?

Read the policy documents to find out what you are covered for, and what you are not covered for, then talk to the insurance company.

If the medical conditions existed before you booked the holiday and you didn't disclose the information then they won't cover it. If it happened after you booked, they should.

It might be wise to discuss with your Dr before approaching the insurance company ; if they believe the latest event is related to the Angina or if they consider it a new condition. If the latter you're in a strong position with the ins. company. Still worth arguing either way.
