Hi all looking for some information or a direction to go in next? Buckle yourselves in its a long one
Last October, admitted to local DGH with history of falls, muscle wastage, generally unwell, bouts of both urinary and feceal incontinence in 6 months prior to admission, also long term IBS, Asthma, Underactive thyroid, B12 issues, borderline insulin resistance and a possible autoimmune neurological condition. Admitted to acute medical ward under on call consultant.
Phew, Pots was noted on admission, along with balance problems, after 4 days developed a heavy cold, and slightly elevated temp you can guess what it coming, but as I had the all clear for covid, it was dismissed. By day 8, I went for a shower on my own (don't ask) despite struggling on a shower chair previously. While in the shower became breathless with heavy pressure on chest, after pulling the call bell sometime later the ward sister arrived, got me into a wheel chair , back to bed, hourly one and once the junior Dr arrived, did a series of bloods including Troponin T, the results came back as 41 ng/l and repeated 3 hrs later as 40ng/l. The following morning he badly communicated that it was my POtS and the heat of the bathroom had caused the episode and was there anything else? Still hot with a sore throat asked for something to relive cold/flu symptoms, agreed to paracetamol 36 hours later ward informed that a previous patient had developed Covid while in same bay, tested and I tested positive.
Somewhere along the line of communication from jr Dr to consultant, I seemed to be refusing treatment for POTs so consultant did the we'll keep you under reviev, see you in clinic in 2 weeks.
Fast forward 5 weeks, still not seen, but have an Opd with my regular consultant for my Neuro review, he's concerned with my deterioration, and conducts several bloods for myosis and inflammatory markers. Anyhow 4 weeks later, Neuro crisis and end up in ICU
Fast forward to today, are my TropT levels more of an indicator of the muscle wastage in my long muscles and increased inflammation levels all round or was this an indicator of an MI but lost in the ensuing communication farce?
Many thanks for putting up with my long winded narrative?
