You would need to be careful in your choice of masseur.Beach side would not suit me. If I knew someone suitably qualified near home that would be different and safer.
You should always check with your clinician before massage. You should not have any deep tissue or hard pressure massage.
I seek advice beforehand and have light aromatherapy massages with essential oils which are not stimulating
HiMy messgae therapist said i had to wait 6 months post heart attack for my monthly back massage. Even now two years later she goes a lot lighter and advised to wait 10mins before getting up off the bed and lots of water for rest of day x
I have them every holiday and also have the beach side ones, but I did check with my heart failure nurse beforehand. I also have an ICD fitted too. She advised me in my particular case it was totally fine as long as it was gentle and nowhere near my device. I always warn each masseuse beforehand and even with the one I had recently that didn't speak much English, pointed to my device so she understood and said to her gentle, which she understood and it was very relaxing and I felt much better for it.
Like others have said though, always chexk with your medical team beforehand and if they give the go ahead, make sure you advise your masseuse that you want a gentle pressure. The hotel based ones do tend to ask you which pressure you want beforehand anyway
I have a complimentary therapist who knows me really well and I mainly have reflexology which makes me feel good.I would be careful with someone who you don’t know. They might be a bit too rough.A good registered masseuse would know how to go on .
I am covered in tiny bruises purely from aspirin. They happen even from the lightest touch so I'd be very wary of any massage that put pressure on my skin. I have severe pain from my spine and the muscles go into spasm so I'd dearly love a deep massage but i Just don't dare. I'd check with your GP first.
Consultant at the hospital said it was OK to go ahead with the back massage I had booked 3 days after my first stent was fitted. I had to give up the deep-tissue massage I was having for the RSI in my shoulders because the bruising was too bad
I would now avoid anyone other than a fully trained masseur at local professional sports fitness clinic that has my health record and latest prescription . Had one years ago in Canaries and after had a TIA! Put me off!
