I have tested positive for the virus that can’t be named twice since my diagnosis of heart problems. Although my heart issue isn’t the same as yours, I thought my experience might be beneficial to you. The first time I caught it after my diagnosis of heart problems, it was more akin to a bad cold. No fever, aches, or pains. However, I did have a horrendous dry cough which was alleviated as a result of being prescribed Amoxicillin at the time. Once the antibiotics kicked in, it became much easier.

The second time was recently whilst I was on holiday and had quite the opposite experience in the sense that I got bronchitis from it, which was horrible and again I was put on a different antibiotic, also known as Azithromycin (Z Mycin). My symptoms were fever, cough, chest pain, shortness of breath, major fatigue, body aches, no smell or appetite, and sore throat. However, once the antibiotics kicked in, I started experiencing some relief on day 3 of the infection.

I was also anxious on both the occasions however, knowing when to get medical intervention helps. If you are feeling more poorly than usual, I would give 111 a call as I do believe the earlier the intervention with the virus, the better it improves your chances of recovery.

All the best.

Hello :-)

Sounds like you made a good recovery at just 11 months from your Bypass op

I had a triple Bypass and I caught the unmentionable when I was about 12 months post op or maybe just a bit over but honestly you will be fine it will not do anything to your Bypasses just rest , fluids ride this through and you will be back to normal before you know it

Let us know how you are and update us how you are doing :-) x

I've had it twice since my op. I don't think it affected me any worse than if I'd not had a bypass. I do take Vitamin D daily which might have helped. My wife was affected more by it and the only medication that she is on is Omeprazole for a stomach issue.
