Thank you to everyone who has/is posting about my insomnia. I have tried a lot of the ideas mentioned over some years and had CBT.I find the insomnia quite debilitating as although quite often I push myself forward to do what I have to do the following day there is an overwhelming weariness that hangs around until I can take another tablet and sleep again. ...only two a week ...doc. says they are addictive but cannot say i have noticed. I have a friend whose doctor prescribes a tablet for nightly use but it has taken her some years to persuade him to do this.I need about 7 hours a night and anything much below 6 hours leaves me tired. I usually wake in the night and do not always get back to sleep...it varies. I do not know why i do not sleep.I have plenty of day time worries but not at night.Still looking for solutions.

Insomnia 2
If I could add my tuppence worth. When you wake in the middle of the night, if you can’t get back to sleep, don’t fight it. I read a book on Kindle with its own backlight (so no bright lights). This takes my mind off the insomnia.
When I’m ready to go back to sleep I use the 4-7-8 breathing technique. I usually get off to sleep in about a minute! It takes a little practice, it can sometimes be difficult to implement if I’m really tired but I find it does work. I’d recommend giving it a try.
Is your insmonia due to the medications you take? If so have you identified which ones. I don't sleep well and people seem to point the finger at the Atorvastatins.
I really sympathise with you. I am constantly woken up with an over active bladder. Have tried medication but to no avail-wonder if anyone else has this problem . I also suffer from episodes of cystitis and have to be careful what I eat and drink - no tea or coffee or alcohol etc
