Does anyone else with a heart condition struggle with sleeping? I can be super tired to the point I cant keep my eyes open, but still cant sleep. Im lucky if I get 4 solid hours. I occasionally have a nap in the day but that doesn't help much either.
Hopefully im not the only one x

I know I've struggled, I'm often awake with pain or discomfort and had to move to the sofa so I could be propped up... but to be honest I've never been a good sleeper and live with anxiety so that might be a factor as well.
If it's bothering you, speak to the GP - if it's short term they will probably point you to relaxation/stress management resources. If it's more chronic, they might dive in a bit further to investigate.
I struggle to get a good night's sleep too. Tips seem to include making sure the room is dark, avoiding using laptops/ tablets etc before bed, and of course decaff drinks. The last is a step too far for me!🙂
ha ha I dont drink caffeinated drinks. I have black out curtains etc. Just cant sleep. Cant switch off. Im sure ill get to the bottom of it. Thank you for replying
Yes also with breathing problems limited exercise, so can be a little frustrating. Do the best you can. I turn on my talk back radio (on a timer) through the night, that sends me back to sleep.
hi I got mircovascular angina and symptoms are insomnia also I'm in perimenapause so its it's hard to tell I had a good sleep last night but most nights tossing and turning, heart pain most nights and hot flushes. Speak with your doctor nothing worse than not getting a good night's sleep ❤❤❤❤
Have you tried mindfullness exercises? There are apps and videos on youtube, I found these quite helpful. Feels bit odd at first but after a while they helped. Also helps with anxiety issues which I sometimes get to do with my condition.
I suffer from this too. Ive found total darkness, not eating for few hours before bed also listening to audiobooks help me drop off. Ive read air purifiers can help, also plants? Defo speak to your nurse though, could be side effects of a medicine? Good luck mate!
Look up the 4-7-8 breathing technique (Dr Andrew Weil). It works for me especially when tired. If you’re not tired do something else to distract yourself in the meantime (read a book, listen to music/audiobook/radio) and return to the technique when you’re sleepy.
No worries For me autobiographies work the best as its just one voice usually at same tempo and level. Do you work shifts at all? I know from first hand they play havoc with sleep patterns
Like you I have difficulty sleeping if lucky 2-3 hours more likely no sleep which has been going on for as long as I can remember. I did have a respite from it some weeks ago while watching a film a comment was made and it was like a switch was flicked that night and the following few nights I slept like a log and became totally relaxed. Unfortunately I am back into a similar routine but not as bad, from my own experience I can only imagine it was something that has stuck in your consciousness that causes you this lack of sleep. I don’t know what the comment was about but it worked. It is something that may have affected you at the time but has gone into the deep recesses of your mind try and think of what it was you might just be lucky to find the cause. At the same time consultant your GP and see what they can come up with. I hope this works let me know how you f go et on.
What medication do you take? I found it hard to get a good nights sleep whilst taking bisoprol, i would toss and turn and wake uo and then not be able to fet back to sleep. Once i came off it i slept well again. Just a thought
I take bisoprolol twice a day, entresto twice a day, dapaglaflozin, furosemide and warfarin. I thought it could be medication related as none of them fully agree with me x
I also haven't slept well since I started taking bisoprolol 2y ago. And I know that the medication does this because my sleep improved when I lowered the dose. It's still bad, but better than it used to be. Planning another dose reduction. In the meantime, magnesium helps.
i suffer from insomnia too, I ask the doctor for zapiclone 3.75 mgs sleeping tablets, after taking 1 of them usually kick starts me into a good sleeping routine for the next six months, then I repeat the process, nothing worse than not getting a good nights sleep 😴👍
Before my ablation i was getting up to wee every 2 hours.Unfortunately i still get up on waking 2 or 3 times a night.Wouldnt it be lovely to sleep straight through.
