Has Bisoprolol done this?

Hi all!

im slightly confused but also at the end of my tether, with anxiety. I can’t sleep. Am sick all the time. Have awful sweating episodes, and all the typical that comes with anxiety. It’s horrible, as many of you will know.

I can’t think of the sudden cause, but have a theory. I’m anxious anyway but have been fine the past five years, taking Escitalopram and Bisoprolol for the anxiety.

Exactly a month ago I got flu. Just normal, good ‘ol flu. In my confusion, I didn’t notice that the pharmacist had given me two 2.5mg packets to take daily, instead of my typical one 5mg of Bisoprolol.

So I went suddenly from 5 to 2.5 without knowing. For about a week.

I’ve gone back to 5mg now, but still have the horrible symptoms that seemed to have come with that mistake. That was a month ago.

So my question is, could my sudden drop in taking Bisoprolol still be causing me problems a month later? I’ve gone back to the doctors and he said that’s a lot to drop in one go, but instead of giving me advice and telling me if it could still be affecting me, he’s upped my Escitalopram instead, to counter the anxiety?

Have you read the side effects leaflet to see if any of these could be related. Think you should see your doctor for advice.

I'd be more tempted to talk to a pharmacist about side effects than a doctor- they know a lot more about such things but if you get nowhere, are you under a cardiologist for blood pressure? Bisopralol is a beta blocker which slows the heart rate and lowers BP. The only effect it had on me was to make me like a zombie. I slept all day. When I stopped taking it ( the lower dose) I had no ill effects at al l . Can you see a different doctor who might give you more details?
