Can I ask how soon people flew after they had a stent fitted. Did you experience any side effects during the flight?

I'veHave you had your angioplasty?
How are you feeling?
In all honesty I felt quite exhausted for a couple of weeks after my angioplasty and had aches and pains in my chest for a good few months and a few issues with my medication and dizziness.
The guy who'd spent 8 days in the bed next to me felt brilliant the morning after our procedures and had no issues following the procedure.
So I guess it's horses for courses, I didn't have the confidence to take a flight for a good 6 months after my procedure....the other issue I had as a sun worshiper who used to live in Spain was that I couldn't cope with the heat!!
Some 2 years later we've visited Tenerife, Sicily and Croatia this year with no adverse effects and we have another holiday booked before the year end.
Thanks for that BridBoy. My husband had angioplasty 5 weeks ago. He is making some progress taking 30-40 minute minute walks each day and a phased return to on line work. So making progress on a very gradual basis. Pains have subsided but still has a bit of a daily headache which we believe is linked to the isosorbide mononitrate tablet and hopefully will phase out in time (reading the other comments). We have a family holiday booked to Lanzarote soon and he is keen to go and Dr has said he is fit enough to travel. So we will take it a day at a time and see.
I had an NSTEMI on holiday in Mallorca, with two stents fitting 2 days later. This was in 2022. I was flown home 5 days after the stents were fitted, with a medical escort provided by the Insurance Company. I didn’t feel great on the plane, but this was partly down to anxiety and also I went into AF (a condition I’d had intermittently prior to the NSTEMI) so not down to the stents.
Hi literally flew after 4 weeks it was only because I had a holiday booked to costa rica for my 50th out of the blue I started getting chest pain had 1 stent on a 90% blockage I changed my holiday to Morocco as thought its not to long a flight looking back I must have gone a bit crazy and thought nothing is stopping me, luckily I was OK but I suppose anything could of happened. I celebrated my 50th on a camal in the zahara dessert surrounded by random strangers on a group trip. Crazy I know plus it was 40 degrees
Back in 2015 I had a STEMI and a cardiac arrest. Had stents inserted and was discharged from hospital 3 days later. Did the cardio rehab almost immediately- which was great. Then flew to India for a pretty active touring holiday in 35 degree heat- Elephant rides, up mountains etc. I was fine and still am many years later.
PS - the flight was about 5 weeks after the STEMI and I had no symptoms whatsoever.
Flew to USA three months after stent with no problems. Rehab was completed and no problems with medication so felt safe to fly. Happy travels to you…
I flew 7 weeks after having a stent fitted and was fine. My cardiologist gave me the ok to fly so I did.
I checked with gp and he looked on computer to inform me it was either 1 week or one month, can't remember exactly now. I flew to Florida 2.5 months after with no problems.
I had my stents fitted middle may after my HA and was given permission to fly in the June I did have assistance at airport but the flight was fine no affect
I had my HA and a stent fitted whilst on holiday in Spain. Heart attack happened on June 17th, stent fitted on the 19th and then was given my fit to fly certificate for flying home (to the UK) June 28th with help at the airport. No adverse effects. Booking a cruise for later in the year.
Have a great trip. X
