Hi everyone. I love salmon and I'm interested in discovering new ways to enjoy eating it. Any recipes would be welcome. Thanks

Hi Hjiu

Here are some suggestions:

raw, poached, grilled, roasted, with a crumb coat, on a bagel, with herby new potatoes, in a pasta dish, as an alternative to meat for a roast dinner, fish pie, with noodles and stir fry veg?

Personally, I’m not keen on salmon but my partner really enjoys his salmon! 🙂

Hope you find something tasty for a new recipe!

Best wishes

Had a lovely fish pie this evening. Salmon, king prawn and haddock all nicely topped with mash potato browned in the oven. Sprouts, broccoli, peas and carrots.

There are many ways of doing it on a barbecue, including fish on a plank. Unfortunately not as convenient as doing it in the kitchen, but very tasty.

there’s a Hairy bikers recipe using ginger and orange, you can find it online, one of my favourites

Good afternoon Hjiu, We simply use our two drawer Ninja on Air Fry setting to not only cook the salmon, but whatever vegetables we want to go with it. The salmon fillets are put in one drawer and vegetables in the other. We use the Fry Light 1% rapeseed oil spray and a bit of parsely sprinkled on top. With the Ninja you can time the cooking seperately, such that the shorter cooking time ( for the salmon), starts part way through the longer one. To us this is the simplest way and also the cheapest and possibly healthiest because of the minimal use of cooking oil. I don't work for Ninja, just in case it was thought that I was advertising, but just being the two of us we have found that, not only is it quicker, but it saves money also because we use less electricity.

happy cooking,

Go to this link: thekitchn.com/best-salmon-c... The method we use is "en papillote" (in parchment paper packet). And it's foolproof.

Teriyaki salmon - so easy. Salmon with red Thai curry paste and coconut milk. Pan fried salmon with onions and olives and maybe some thyme or oregano, salmon tacos....

If it's good quality, ie wild salmon, it just needs a little butter and lemon, served with new potatoes, parsley or dill, and a few peas.

My fave way of cooking salmon is,

We always use the flat fillet pieces. Wrap in foil with a little lemon juice, steam for twenty minutes or so, with little skin on potatoes in their skins started 10 to 15 minutes earlier in another steamer tier.

When nearly ready melt a tub of reduced fat cream cheese, the 200 gram ones from aldi or tesco, in a frying pan then add the juice from the salmon and lemon when you unwrap it, coarse black pepper and a good glug of white martini ( I first tried this at Christmas when we had martini in using what we had at hand, it was an experiment ). Makes a sauce that we love.

What I like about cooking salmon in foil is that the skin sticks to the foil and the flesh lifts away easily. Either put the salmon in the sauce in the pan and heat through a little longer or pour the sauce over when you dish up.

I use the cream cheese in the same way minus the martini when I cook pasta and add sweetcorn, celery and cashew nuts. Usually with drained tinned tuna in spring water, chopped smoked sausage or cooked chopped chicken. Stir the pasta in at the end. Don’t worry if a bit of the pasta water goes in.

If the sauce mixture is drying when cooking scoop spoonfuls of the pasta water ( lightly salted ) and add. Don’t make it too sloppy as you will get water in with the pasta when you add it at the end.

This is one of my favourite evening meals not too often as it’s not exactly slimming, it would be good with salmon too.

Pop the chunky salmon portion in a dish and spread with honey and mustard, use at least a level teaspoon of each for every portion. Cover dish and bake in a microwave for 3 minutes or more if two portions. Serve with salad and new potatoes, you will not be able to taste the mustard at all.

I'm doing this tonight.

Cook a salmon steak on a bed of leeks or onion, sprinkle it with sesame seeds. Then bake in the oven for 20 mins, about 10 mins before serving pop some small tomatoes on the vine on top. Serve with baked sweet potato chips cooked in the same oven for 30 mins (so put those in the oven first)..

Salmon is a really good alternative to meat for kebabs on your Summer BBQ

They're healthy heart meals, nothing controversial here.
