Good morning allHaving had DCM for over six years now and still fit and well I was curious to ask if anyone on Dapagliflozin has issues with raised haemocrit? It's been a long time since posting on here and I've forgotten how useful it can be to all. Hope everyone has a nice day.

Good evening Georgemac27

I’m sorry no one has gotten back to you. When you say DCM are you referring to Dilated Cardiomyopathy?

I don’t take dapagliflozin I’m afraid, but I do know there are a few forum members that do for heart failure.

I hope someone comes along with their experiences of this specific medication.

All the best.

Tos

hi. I’ve been on Dapa for close to a year now. The only significant change in my bloods has been very high iron levels but I dont know if this is related to Dapa or my other meds and my GP doesn’t know. Sorry, this is probably a totally useless reply for you but I’d be interested to see if it can change blood levels. Good luck x

Hello and thank you. I'm curious due to increase in red blood cells being a listed side effect yet my iron levels are fine. Been on Dapa for well over 2 years. My haemocrit has always been inconsistent up and down but since starting Dapa is always close to the 56/57 mark.

hi. Have you had the chance to ask the cardiac nurses or doc about this? Maybe it could be something as simple as upping your water intake. Sometimes dehydration can increase Haemocrit levels and Dapa can make you pee more often. My gp has no idea why my iron is very high and has now sent my blood off for genetic testing for haemochromatosis. Fingers crossed that you’ll get an answer soon.

Defo agree with the excessive peeing. Gp /cardio nurse say because it's still relatively new it has not been monitored. I'm just curious. Aware of the water intake as I'm my own worst enemy of not drinking enough although I have of late just for future comparison tests.

Hi I have dilated cardiomyopathy and heart failure. I’ve been taking dapa since last October and I have had many full blood tests with no problems shown apart from borderline diabetes. Like someone else as said all it does is makes me urinate a lot, and lose weight I think.

Hello Deejay62Even though increase in red blood count is a listed side effect the haemotolgist rubbished it but hey what do us laymen know? Have a good evening.

I’ve never heard the mentioned, and I’ve been diagnosed with DCM for 20 yrs when my heart failure started, my iron levels have always been good. so I find that very interesting. I have a friend who as heart failure caused by other heart conditions and she as very low iron.
