I had an ablation for atrial flutter on 20 June & am just a bit confused by advice about resuming exercise. I'm normally very active - run 3x a week, work out a couple of times, walk every day. I've seen '7-10 days recovery', so had set myself a boundary of a fortnight before starting to run again. However, some of the reading I've done suggests that even this might be too early - that your heart can be 'settling' for up to 3 months post-ablation.
Any advice here for me? I am really missing my activity, psychologically, which is not helping with the emotional side of recovery. Thanks all.

I don’t have any advice to offer in terms of how quickly you can go back to running however, many forum members have had an ablation on here so I hope they will be by to offer support.
In the meantime, I’ve attached the BHFs’ helpline number below as they may be able to advise further on this. They are open Monday through to Friday, 9-5pm.
My husband had an ablation at the end of March and he was told short walks initially, then gradually & slowly building that up but to not to even walk alone for a while.
We were told it can take up to 3 months for your heart to settle down as an ablation is quite an invasive procedure & irritates the heart. Unfortunately, he has found that post ablation his heart has gone into overdrive, but does seem to be settling down now.
Can you contact your EP and ask for a timescale for when you can start running again, emphasising how fit you were pre ablation. I think recovery is probably individual & dependant on how invasive your ablation was, any complications, etc.
