Morning. Hope you are all ok. I was wondering if any one can advice, I was diagnosed with LVH 2 wk ago and last week Automatic neuropathy last wk! As my blood pressure will not rise any higher than 96/49. I went too the Dr who was a locum for the day who has told me to stop the ramipril! Which I have but I feel bloody awful. Anyone had to do this before? I tried contacting the consultant who originally gave me the diagnosis but she's on holiday. Thank you x

I hope you manage to get the answer you need and will let us know how you get on :-) x

i was taken off ramipril and put on entresto. You need 48 hours ish for the ramipril to get out of your system.

Ramipril can also be given for raised blood pressure but is a standard and useful medication for heart muscle dysfunction. The doses that are prescribed for ramipril vary over quite a large range-usually 1.25mg per day and 10mg per day. Hence the after effects of stopping will vary on the dose used and the duration you have been taking it for. I think the best course of action is to contact your GP again- who will know your exact doses and the indications it was prescribed for and he can check your BP standing and sitting. Regards. Best Wishes.

I changed from Ramipril to Losartan after 9 years of taking Ramipril with LVSD Heart Failure. I started to have regular Angioedema reactions (swelling of face and tongue) which were attributed to the Ramipril though not proven. My consultant then stopped the Losartan after six months as I also had side effects related to this. I was a bit uneasy about having neither treatment after successfully living with Ramipril for so long but have had no issues for about 5 months. My blood pressure which was also low and previously around 100/60 has gone up a bit to 110/70.
