pretty gutted and looking for some inspiration.

I’m sitting here feeling pretty gutted and disappointed with myself. Back in November 2020 I had a very mild heart attack and a stent fitted, when I say mild I mean it was mild in form of symptoms and impact in the function of my heart. It was obviously still serious as it was a heart attack and I was only 48. The period following was really difficult, we entered the second lockdown and all support was over the telephone, it was a dark place but I used this forum and formed a change in my lifestyle that was extremely positive, lost loads of weight, eating really healthy and walking a minimum of 10k a day (normally by 8am) I felt great and gradually began to worry far less about my heart condition and what it means.. Unfortunately I became so much less worried that I gradually started going back to my old ways of eating less healthy choices more regularly, drinking alcohol much more regularly (never thought I’d say this but I sometimes wish the pubs got locked down indefinitely) and exercising much less regularly..

Subsequently I’ve piled all the weight back on, and have just been given the diagnosis of type 2 diabetes and fatty liver. I’m an ex registered nurse so knew the risks and very real potential of these diagnosis, but I’m also human and despite knowing these risks somehow managed to ignore them anyway.

So here I am sitting here feeling pretty damn gutted and disappointed, but also quite motivated to get right back on the wagon and start looking after myself again, I’m just hoping that there might be someone on here who has had similar experience and has successfully managed to get things back on track, particularly if they have also been diagnosed with the type 2 diabetes.

Here’s hoping!! Sorry for the big post, although I feel better having written it!!
