Coming off bisoprolol

Hello All,I have been told to stop my daily 2.5mg dose of Bisoprolol today prior to ablation on Monday. I know the standard line is 'if this is medical advice, it is fine' but information online suggests that you should be weaned off gradually over the course of a week to reduce risk of dramatic spikes in blood pressure, heart attack etc. I'm 40 and am having an ablation for SVT, no other health problems. Considering nearly all my SVT events end in A & E admission, I am preparing myself for this to happen within a couple of days.

Try and stay as positive as you can I know you are looking at your past experiences but this may not be the same this time

I also know what it says on Google but they are not basing what they say on an individual person and if your Consultants thought you should wean of I am sure they would have suggest that

I imagine you will only have to stop them for a few days and after the ablation will be able to go back on them if needed

You can always phone the BHF Nurses who will have advice on this and I think I would give them a ring

Good luck with the procedure- the bisoprolol should take two-three days to be out of your system - I’d try and find a way of relaxing as much as possible before Monday; easier said than done I know but do try
