Hi  Ang5b

It’s sounds like you have made improvement on the medication, which is good news!

I don’t know have a lot of knowledge on pacemakers however, I know a lot of people that do benefit from it once it’s been put in. So it seems that your cardiologist knows what they are doing and you’re in safe hands in order to improve your quality of life and have better heart health overall.

I’m not sure if you’ve had the chance to have a look, but there is this below information on pacemakers on the BHF.

I hope others come by to share their experiences.

All the best.

Hi Ang5b

I belong to a FB group where a number of people have had this device fitted and the vast majority have said they felt an immediate improvement in their well being, maybe because their heart is beating in sync again? Great to hear your EF has improved, today's meds are really good in supporting your heart.

If you do Facebook the group is called ICD support-uk, obviously it's not exclusive to ICD's or even the UK but might be something you're interested in.

Regards

Hi 👋. There are quite a few people on here who have a 3 lead device, me included. May take a bit of getting used to but really an amazing piece of equipment. 😊

Had CRT D fitted 1 month ago. Procedure very easy, not particularly painful. Always a bit scary when medics are poking around with wires in your heart. In and out same day. A little sore and had to restrict left are movement for a month, and no driving. Inconvenient. But for me, I am much more exercise tolerant, can manage much more without getting chest pain. Would therefore recommend. I am a skinny bloke and the unit is surprisingly noticeable under my skin beneath collarbone. Not really a problem, no one looks at my old man body anyway

Hi Ang5b, I hope you’re well as can be. I had a CRT-P fitted years ago, then upgraded to CRT-D because my heart failure became worse. It as kept me going for about 12 years. It’s suppose to correct your heart rhythm if it goes out of sync. The extra lead is for people with heart failure whose hearts don’t pump properly. It still paces your heart. I’ve only ever had these devices. The first one lasted 7 years I think. Before the procedure they should explain it to you.

Hi, I am also waiting for CRT. I have a 2 lead pacemaker but they are going to add the 3rd lead to hopefully sync my heart. I have been waiting about 3 months. I have pacemaker induced Cardiomyopathy HF. The meds at the last Echo had not improved my EF so hoping this 3rd lead does the job. Good to hear others say how they benefited. Good luck and hope you are soon synced.

I’ve had a CRT-P device for 4 years now and am very much improved so that cardio say I don’t have heart failure any more. I couldn’t walk any distance and was breathless walking and talking, going uphill etc but so long as I go steadily, I can walk a few miles now. I have the odd off day but basically feel well most of the time. The ventricles were beating out of synch with each other according to cardio and the new pacemaker sorted that out, though it was a while before the full improvement in how I felt happened. I really hope you have the same outcome and wish you well for the procedure.
