to cut to the chase my blood pressure has been controlled for the last couple of years all of a sudden its been erratic.

I have headaches docs don't know whether the headaches are causing the spike or the raise in blood pressure is causing the headache's so prescribed Naproxen for the pain and I was to monitor my blood pressure

I have read that I would be better with aspirin ?

Can I have your thought please , thanks in advance

Hi  zigzag131

I’m sorry to hear about the issues you’re having with your blood pressure, especially your headaches.

My partner suffers with high blood pressure, and went through a period with having excruciating headaches with it. He was put on Propranolol. Is this something which your cardiologist or doctor can review for you? The NHS has the below information.

nhs.uk/medicines/propranolo....

Paracetamol is also generally regarded the safest painkiller to take. Have you tried this instead of the Naproxen?

If you decide the to take the Aspirin, please do so after informing/consulting with your doctor just in case it is not suitable for you.

All the best.

Hello :-)

I would have thought your Doctor may have looked at your medication you take for BP and maybe tweaked it a bit bit I suppose they will monitor it and see what happens and then could make a few changes

Unless you need Aspirin it is better not to take it as they say it can sometimes cause stomach ulcers so it depends if needed yes take it if not better not to take it also it is not a strong pain killer that I have ever found has helped with headaches

Is there a reason you don't want to try Naproxen it could work and if not at least you can then go back and let them know

You could also talk with your pharmacists they are good knowing all about medications you can even phone them if you do not have time to go in

I hope the headaches eases and they sort that BP out which could help with them and of course if you are not happy you can always go back again to the Doctors

Let us know how you get on :-) x
