clicking chest after CABG

hi all, my husband is 3 weeks post op and has a clicking in his chest sometimes when he moves. Is this normal?

It's not uncommon. It was discussed in detail during the Cardio Rehab course I attended, where most open heart surgery patients reported similar symptoms.

The most common cause is stretched muscles and sinews snapping across the new ridges and undulations in the chest bone. It feels like it's the bone itself opening and closing, but it's not. It's the muscles and sinews healing or accommodating themselves to the sternum's new profile. It'll ease up over time.

Hi,You lucky thing!!! I wasn't given or offered any information at all post op!! I've had to find out alot myself. Mostly from the amazing people here!! I do however attend a cardio rehab exercise class every week. Some post op information would hemave been nice!!

Hi SJX130. My hubby finally stopped 'clicking' after about 6 months. To be fair, we missed the subtle noises!!!😂. Hope all is OK with both of you. Love and hugs. Jan xxxx
