Hi,It's not a common side effect of propranolol, but it is listed, it's thought that the patient would need to be predisposed to hair loss so there may be something else underlying to be explored.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend getting your thyroid checked, I had a lot of hair loss with an underactive thyroid and it's quite common in women.

Stress can also cause hair loss.

I second stress and its easily overlooked with all that's going on, but will affect the hair almost in all cases { so my cardiologist said, } and men can lose body hair as well { in my case }

I was very concerned about the amount of hair I was sweeping up. That has diminished and I always wear a hat when outdoors or meeting strangers.

I am noticing that there are more females showing loss of hair.

The main concern I had when it started was that peolpe would give me sympathy, believing my loss of hair was due to cancer treatment.

Hi September 1990I havnt experienced this myself I'm afraid. I'm actually losing hair at the moment but I'm recovering from a double cabg so not sure if there is a link there? Have you asked your GP? There may be a link? Also stress can play a big part in hair loss too!? Let us know ow how you get on.

Yes Propranolol definitely caused hair loss to me. I stopped taking it.

My cardiologist told me that my hair loss was due to bisoprolol. He was reluctant for me to change to an alternative as he said that this was the Rolls Royce of drugs. My GP also did a number of blood tests. I have an underactive thyroid anyway, but my levels were fine however, I was low on zinc and a supplement did help for a while, but I’m still losing a lot of hair. 😩
