Can I ask it’s two years Mar 2021 since HA had a stent I did see cardiologist the first year. Are you supposed to have checks to see how things are going just wanted to know. Thank you.

Although unique to you it a question that we hear time and time again.

Its an important one that needs keeping to the top of the pile as time passes fast and many are left worrying about follow up appointments.

It depends if you have been released by you Cardiologist to your Drs care, then it is their responsibility for your continued care and check ups.

If you have not been released then a quick call to the Dr/nurse to contact { or do it directly } Cardiologist secretary /team will hopefully get you a follow up appointment if needed.

Thank you for answering. No I don’t need to see him anymore my GP does blood test every now and then but I was just wondering even though I feel well but I thought perhaps every year or two they would check the stent I don’t know how it works really. But what I have noticed I do a lot of walking when I start off I feel bit out of breath say the first ten mins then I am fine it’s that normal?

You have to ask yourself " is it normal for me " I think the answer is no and that your Gp should be your first port of call.

Your Gp will soon refer you back to the cardiologist dept if its something that they can't deal with, it maybe a simple medication tweak that will help you feel better.

Hi, I guess the only way of truly checking stents is by having an invasive angiogram. That obviously comes with (very small) risks. If you're not having an angina symptons I guess its working fine. I presume that's why there's no point in follow ups. If you're feeling any discomfort ask for a referral back to your cardiologist, if you're not and leading a healthy lifestyle then enjoy the fact that your stent is working well. All the bestSusie

I'm the same only seen my cardiologist once since last April have been under the care of GP since September when the cardiologist discharged me from his care but said if I need advice or don't feel right I can contact him or my cardiac care nurse or contact GP. I would've liked to of been under the cardiologists care for at least the first year.

I just have annual check up with nurse at surgery. Blood tests, BP etc. Then see actual gp if deemed necessary.

I think it depends what postcode you live in , I had nstemi and stent fitted last March then further stent fitted last August, and my follow up was a 5 minute telephone call last month.

HiI had HAand 1 stent in April 2021. I got a phonecall from cardiologist 5 months later and he discharged me. All was great for about a year then started getting palpatations,angina and generally feeling very fatigued. Only time i have seen a cardiologist since is if i've been to a+e with symptoms or admitted to hospital.

Was referred for angiogram and because it was clear was sent on my way again. I spoke to a gp who is new to my surgery last week and she is very confused and unhappy as to why i am receiving no follow up and not under a consultant when i am having symltoms so she is investigating further.

I had heart attack and 2 stents in 2018. I haven't seen anyone at all since except an annual check by my GP for weight, bloods and such. A second angiogram 3 weeks after the first showed 2 blockages at 64& which were not stented however I've been completely unable to find out whether those have got worse.
