Hi, I’ve been on Propranolol for about 10 months now after an episode of severe high blood pressure. But my sleep has been terrible so I now have to take sleeping tablets. I've been wondering, does anyone else suspect that Propranolol could be affecting their sleep? I also notice my legs feel quite heavy and I've heard beta-blockers can make you feel quite sluggish.
The hospital also put me on other meds after my heart attack last year. Hoping someone would have some experience with beta blockers. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi, Skykitty - I haven't been prescribed Propranolol so unfortunately can't help with your query, but I'm sure someone will be along soon who might be able to help. I do take a daily dose of 5mg of Bisoprolol after a HA and triple bypass last year and it does make me feel tired in the afternoons but it hasn't affected my sleep. I did have a few odd quite vivid dreams after first starting to take it for a couple of weeks, but they subsided quite quickly once my system became used to it. Carol
Hi SkykittyI am not medically qualified, so these are just random thoughts. You should talk to your GP about this and get professional advice. I suggest you may be making assumptions about the causes of the issues you mention.
Beta blockers lower your heart rate, but you don't mention what your HR is. I suggest you take your pulse rate every so often during the day to see what yours is doing. If you have a blood pressure machine, use that too. Record the results over a 24 hour period and then talk to your GP, the data will help.
