Ectopic beats

Hi thereI just had an ecg and was doing ok until the last few seconds when I had to stop as my legs were sore and breathing was laboured.

It turns out I had some polymorphic ventricular ectopics which on the print out looked like ky heart had gone crazy.

No chest pain at all. I am already taking verapamil for previous ectopics but have never had polymorphic before and I'm a little anxious about it.

Waiting for cardiologist to get back to me re appt.

I’m sorry to hear you’re not feeling well.

Usually, ectopics are not particularly anything to worry about unless they are happening very regularly. Verapamil helps stabilise the heart rate by slowing it down which I can see you’re already on so I wouldn’t be alarmed just yet.

Please wait for the cardiologists’ report in the meantime. If your symptoms get worse, please call 111 for more advice.

l was told ectopics are nothing to worry about. People with no heart condition get them, everyone gets them. I also was told they happen to keep the heart regular and can actually stop an AF episode.
