Daytime BPM

Hi, I have a withings watch which records BPM over 24 hours, I have recorded in the last few weeks where my BPM dropped as low as 41 bpm during the day, yesterday was my lowest. During the night my resting bpm is generally in the 50’s which I know is ok. I am on the waiting list for my 2nd ablation (first one was abandoned halfway through) 10 months so far and have been advised it’s now a year and half waiting list from 12 months . I had 3 AF episodes in the last two weeks lasting up to 3 hours which was a surprise as I haven't had one in 4 weeks. I exercise 3 times a week for 2 hours as I’ve always been active. I have no side effects apart from my chest feeling as though there is pressure and I feel as though I cannot get enough oxygen but it’s not constant. I’m not sure if I should wait it out for my ablation or advise my doctor (not cardiologist) just to check if this is acceptable (I’m 70 female). Advise please

Regards

Lesley

Hi Lesley

Does your heart rate go up high when you have an AF attack? Also are you on any medication for this?

Hi Jean

Yes, it usually goes as high as 170 and I’m on flecainide and rivaroxaban

Yes, I would certainly let your GP and EP know as soon as possible. With your heart rate going down to 41bpm that's getting near to being a problem. Do you know how long it went down that low? I think I'd be wanting my Flecainide dose reduced slightly.

It's usual to take a small dose of beta blocker alongside Flecainide and I'm wondering why you're not doing that, but I guess your EP knows your situation far better than me.

Hi Jean

Only a few mins then it slowly climbed up to 50’s, I was on a beta blocker but it slowed the heart to much and the cardiologist stopped it and put me on felcainide instead, as I’m sitting down typing this my watch is showing 48 bpm. I think you are right, I will ring my doctor tomorrow for advice.
