Waiting list
Yes. It's fine. It's usually an appointments unit that managed appointments against information provided by the medical unit e.g. cardio. They will be able to give you an indication of when your procedure will take place, you might be given an appointment over the phone, and if they operate a cancellations list and you are able to take one up if offered one later at short notice, you could put yourself on that list.
Yes. do put yourself onthe cancellations list. It is very effetive.I have often used it with success. You contact the dept who will give you your treatment and they will put you on the list .Sometimes you will get a few hours notice or it could be a dayor two. Just be ready to go when they call.
hi Grannypats I would chase ideally speak to the cardiosecretary for the consultant who is leading the team doing your ablation. I found it incredibly difficult getting an estimate of the likely timescale and it took five calls to get a an estimate of timescale and then a date . It took me 6 months from being given a date to the ablation. Timescales vary depending on hospital and type of ablation you are having so think 18 weeks is quite good. My experience of the ablation was very good, I felt very safe and cared for and in my case was awake throughout. Hope that you get a date soon and the operation goes well and is a success best wishe
Totally agree with the comments before, ask if you can go on the cancellation list, my sister is still waiting for her op after nine months, I know waiting times differ in areas but good luck
hello there . I too am waiting same. But in February I was told up to twelve month wait.
Yeah absolutely - call and keep calling - 14 weeks though - wow - mine was nearly 8 months
My wait was September to May, despite me turning up at A & E a few times, but great result.
I have been on the waiting list for ablation since January 2023 and no sign of an appointment.
It’s worth a call. I went on the waiting list end of January and have my ablation booked for end of August at Hammersmith. I was told there was a six month wait for SVT which I have but 12 months for AFib.
