After months of coughing and feeling rough, 3 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with having a pulmonary embolism and pleurisy on my right lung. The pain and and breathing problems were unbearable at the time and my breathing still isn't great. All of this while taking APIXABAN for the last 4 years. It would appear this anticoagulant drug is not man enough for me and have been moved to warfarin. I am told that it is all connected to my heart failure. My question is , does anybody know of the recovery time, so I can get back to work??

I had a massive PE in 2019 and was given clot buster in A & E to save my life. With me I didn't have any pain at all so it wasn't until CT scan was done they knew what it was. Put on Heparin drip for five days, Warfarin for two and then Rivaroxaban for life. Diagnosed with heart failure 2020 which they put down to both the PE and silent atrial fibrillation. The PE damaged my lungs so even now I tend to get short of breath. You are in very early days of recovery and you can expect to have effects from it for weeks, possibly months. Your medics should give you some guidance on this. What type of work you do will also factor into it and you will need to pace yourself. Good luck
