Combined Pulmonary and Aeortic Stenosis plus VSD

Hi, I am a 36 year old women who was born with a congenital heart defect. VSD(hole in the heart ) and pulmony stenosis. Last month I had a Echo as part of a pre op for a surgery on my abdomen. On that Echo they also found that I have an aeortic stenosis too. My surgery was cancelled and I am now waiting to see a cardiologist. However, I have been doing some research of my own and I have found very little information on combined pulmonary and aeortic stenosis but what I have found states that it is extremely rare.

Has anyone else had this type of congenital heart defect or does anyone know of anymore details.

I don't have experience of these stenoses but I have had 4 CABGs. I recommend that you watch the film "Forks Over Knives". It will show you that you can clear out your arteries. It is on Netflix, YouTube and a website of the same name. It is about medical dietary research, including a massive study of 800,000 Chinese people. You might find it helpful, I did.

In the film, there is a bloke with 27 diseases. After 6 months on a WFPB diet he was down to 1.

Hi Jimmyq. My heart defect isn’t due to diet but thanks for the film info I will look it up.

It must of been a shock to be given this news.

Are you being seen by a Cardiologist that has expertise in caring for adults living with inborn structural problems of their heart?

Dr Google's consulting room sometimes does not provide good quality advice and information. I suggest you write down all your questions and take this list to your Cardiology appointment

Ask to be referred to a centre that has the expertise if necessary this may mean you will need to travel.

Good luck, I hope your wait to see the Cardiologist is not too long.

Forgot to say perhaps ring the BHF helpline and speak to one of the Cardiac nurses they are very knowledgeable and supportive

Hi Gez36,

I assume the cardiologist you are waiting to see is one based at a specialised adult congenital clinic. If not I would encourage you to get that changed.
