Dear Kcim1608

Now I understand your question and for the life of me I cannot understand why the MRI team did not pick up the fact that you have a Pacemaker fitted. After all it would have been your cardiology dept that called for the test.

It may also be that your { like mine } pacemaker is safe to have a MRI scan with.

It must have been a worry for you, but it does prove that mistakes are made { they are only human }

They would have a hard job missing the fact that I have a Pacemaker as it is very prominent on my chest.

Take care

My advice is to assume that they know nothing about you, which seems to be the case, for example, every time I have unfortunately had to visit A&E at the same hospital over the last three years or so.

My understanding is the MRI team wouldn't necessarily look at your records. When my husband has been referred for various scans etc the person who has made the referral will/should give the info (usually on the referral of letter) that you have a device fitted, the type of device & any other significant information. It may be your pacemaker wasn't mentioned as the newer types of devices are MRI compatible & therefore it's not an issue.

Hello

Anytime I have received an appointment for an MRI it has had a questionnaire regarding any metal in your body. If you have it says to call the MRI dept to prevent your scan being cancelled.

Last time I had an MRI,

I had had a stent procedure 2 days prior to the MRI. The radiographer wouldn't do the scan until she had called her boss to clear it, because the stent was so recent.

What Hospital was it you attended ? You really should inform them that they have a Very Important lapse in their MRI procedure.

Regards
