Hello, I have paroxysmal AFib approx every two weeks. I take edoxaban and 2.5mg bisoprolol daily but I have just been prescribed 200mg flecainide to take whenever the AFib starts. I'm just a little concerned as I've had nothing other than a telephone call from the cardiologist. He said I should have an echocardiagram and 24hrs monitor but it appears to be a long wait for these. Is it OK to take the flecainide before I've done the tests? My heart rate is quite low 50s generally and up to 90 in AFib.
Flecainide: Hello, I have paroxysmal... - British Heart Fou...
Flecainide
prior to my ablation I was on Bisoprolol and Edoxaban and when my AF became worse was prescribed 50mg Flecainide to take twice a day and told that I could take up to 200mg if I had an AF event.
After having a 14 day monitor, my consultant wanted a long period to confirm and luckily I have work health insurance, I had PVI ablation. Then stopped Flecainide and Bisoprolol
My heart rate has always been around 50 and although not a fitness fanatic do swim most days and 10000 steps
Flecainide is an amazing drug. I have been AF free for nearly 10 months. I take 50 mg twice a day, any higher per day and I get bad side effects. If my heart becomes unsteady I take an extra 50mg and so far so good. I have been told I will need an ablation and a pace maker when the condition worsens and the Flecainide can know longer control it.
