Advice with flecainide
Hi Janna, I take Flecainide for SVT. I take 200mg a day, 100mg in the morning and 100mg in the evening. It has controlled my daily episodes. Perhaps someone else who reads your post, who has both AF and takes this medication can give their experiences. Your english is very good!
Thanks a lot for you kind replay !! How long you take it for and do you have any side effects ?
I have been taking it since September 2021. The only problem I had was with my kidney function. I have CKD, for the first few months my kidney function dropped much lower than it normally is. I had regular blood tests done. After a few months my kidney function Improved and went back to where it would normally be. Otherwise no other side effects.
I've been taking Flecainide for many years. I started by taking it as needed as a pill in the pocket (pip). Over time I had more episodes and changed to 50mg am and pm which kept my af at bay for a long time.
Over the years I got more episodes and the dosage was increased to 100mg am and pm, which I am now on. I do still have the occasional af episode and my cardiologist says I can take an extra dose if needed, which I do on occasion and I go back to sinus within 3 to 4 hours.
This drug has changed my life for the better without doubt and I get no side effects. I also take Bisoprolol 5mg am which helps keep my heart rate down, especially when in af.
It sounds as if the the Flecainide is working for you too.
