Probably best to ask your medical team for a proper explanation but basically it means the heart muscle has become stiff due to damage or disease and isn't able to pump blood around your body effectively. My husband has severe 'stiffening' because of damage caused by a heart attack, there are various causes for it
Dear Steely123
'Stiff heart' is a bit like 'Heart Failure' its a terrible blanket term that is quick to use to cover what should be an individual diagnosis to you.
You have to ask the questions at what stage your stiffing and heart failure is and what has caused it.
It normally { please remember that I am not medically trained } means that something has gone on in the past that has damaged a certain part of your heart { walls mainly } but your Dr/Heart Team/Cardiologist should have a full description of your diagnosis and can explain it to you, or certainly demand more tests.
Good luck with everything and please remember you are not alone, we are here to help in anyway that we can.
Take care
