Cardiac Rehab

Had my second and final rehab assessment yesterday and all is well. I was keen to do more on the tread mill but they stopped it just as I was getting warmed up.

The questionnaire I was given to fill in asked what was my most recent task that caused me to get out of breath, I replied “moving a ton of wood for my wood burner into my wood store”. Hope that was sufficient to indicate my fitness.

You sound very fit able to move all the wood and I think or hope that should be enough to let them give you the all clear to continue with using the treadmill :-) x

I get the impression that they mollycoddle a little too much. After my 3x CABG the physio asked me to walk up the stairs to assess my fitness. I walked up to the next floor (2 flights), she said she only wanted me to scale one flight.

Definitely. I guess they have to cover all eventualities. If you are used to keeping fit it's very tame.

I remember having to walk up one flight of stairs you had to be able to do that before they would discharged you so I managed to get up those but you must be fit as I doubt I could have done two flights not at that stage :-) x

I’ve never thought of myself as fit, but whenever I visited a customer on a high floor, (no I didn’t walk UP the stairs), I walked down the stairs.

In my fifties I used to test my fitness by running up the steep slope to the left of the path just down from the Lickey Hills Visitor Centre.
