Morning guys! Hope everyone is as good as they can be 😊Just wondering if anyone's been discharged from cardiologist and referred to an EP? In the space of not even 12 months, I've gone from needing a pacemaker, to not, then to possibly needing one. My cardiologist said he doesn't know what's going on with me even though he's diagnosed me with 1st degree AV block, grade 2/6 mid-systolic murmur and a DLA - so he's referred me to someone who he said specialises in just arrythmia? I feel like giving up with it all, nearly 7 years under cardi and I'm still struggling to get proper treatment 😩 x

My Cardio referred me to an EP and he dealt successfully with (what turned out to be) my transient arrhythmias, which seemed to be caused by medication.
The definition ‘An electrophysiologist is a doctor who's an expert in diagnosing and treating issues with your heart's electrical system’,
I would read your post as rather positive……getting another expert to help find other causes for your heart problems.
Hi,I was under the Cardiologist after my HA in November 2021. On discharge from hospital I was advised I would get a follow-up appointment in around 3 months. I promptly fell through the cracks in the system and was ignored until August 2022 when my persistent nagging of the Cardiology department resulted in a check up and immediate discharge to my G.P.
The only positive being that if I want to self refer back at any time I can do that.
I leave the drawing of conclusions to you but at least you had 7 years with the Cardiologist.

Hi there I totally understand your frustration. I was born with congenital complete heart block and was referred to Cardiology twice. They were extremely thorough both times but my second cardiologist referred me to a EP. Turns out that was exactly what I needed as they are experts when it comes to abnormal heart rhythms. I was fitted with my pacemaker which turned 3 years old a few days ago. I barely notice my device now and attend hospital for yearly pacemaker checks which have been going well. Fingers crossed your new specialist which get you sorted soon, take care.
