Cholesterol levels

A bit of a drop in my cholesterol. 8 on the day of my NSTEMI, 2.4 today!

Looks like the meds work. Been taking my meds and stopped eating saturated fat of any kind. Loads of veg and fresh fruit. Also lost 5kg in 6 weeks.

Can I ask what meds ? I’m assuming 80mg atorvastatin ? And how about carbs and sugar ? Just interested for my own results. Either way great result for you well done on cutting the saturated fats because once you start looking it’s in everything !

Lansoprazole 15mg

Clopidogrel 75mg

Ramipril 2.5mg

Aspirin 75mg

Ezetimbe 10mg

Bisoprolol 1.25mh

Atorvastatin 80mg

Yes, cut out sugar also but not so much on the carbs. Biggest changes have been no cheese, butter, milk, chocolate, biscuits, cake, crisps or alcohol. Everything else I check for saturated fat.

Thanks mate appreciate the information. I’ve read loads about carbs but I can’t cut carbs out either. I’ve reduced my carbs and only eat good carbs everything wholewheat and increased fibre. Cut sugar almost completely but not entirely.

I have atrial fibrillation as well as a complicating factor. Although maybe I should be thankful as without the AF I’d never of known I had coronary disease probably until I was totally blocked in LAD. Obviously still might happen as I have soft plaques in a few areas. Hoping the Atorvastatin and diet will sort that out.

But they haven’t given me aspirin yet as I’m on anticoagulants for the AF. I’m having an operation to occluded my left atrial appendage to come off the anticoagulant with the view that I will need aspirin and or another anti platelet if I have a HA or a stent.

Congrats though mate your doing great.

Congratulations on these great results, you're taking massive strides towards reducing your risk of another heart attack or stroke. My GP told me that there's no medication he can prescribe that will deliver as much benefit as simply losing two stones.

One small point, the lipid risk factors that British doctors use are based on the cholesterol/HDL ratio rather than total cholesterol.

Congratulations on this!! I've also gone from 7.4 on 26\09\22 to 2.7 on 23\12\22 ratio. On Atorvastatin 80mgs per day and have altered diet to reduce or stop sat fats, sugar and carbs. it is a life change and medications but if it stops the risks you just have to do it. Not easy but worth it!

Not what you're looking for?
