I hae high BP which I take ramiprill and doxazosin I am also very breathless which is under inestigation, I am going for another ECG on Tuesday but they will only take it with me lying flat and it’s only when I turn on my side that my heart goes into AF. Has anyone else had this issue please? I have tried explaining this to my dr but he tells me that I’m imagining it even though I have showed him the episodes of AF on my Apple Watch

AF when lying on my side
My heart is much more noticeable feels like it is beating faster and harder when I lie on my left hand side. The consultant said it was normal and absolutely fine. I had a quad bypass 10 months ago
When I lay on my left side, I get fluttering and can feel every heart beat. Doctors have said nothing to worry about and its ectopic beats. Apparently some people feel them more than others. I still worry though!
With the caveat that I’m not medically qualified. My understanding is that episodes of AF are usually triggered by premature contractions, also colloquially known as ectopics. We know that ectopics can be positional for some people: which position causes it can vary between individuals, but I can very reliably give myself ectopics by lying on my left side. Not ever triggered my arrhythmia that way, but the more ectopics I have, the more likely it is I’ll end up in SVT, so I tend to avoid the things that I know set me off, including lying on my left.
I can feel my heart thump sometimes when I lie on the left. I read somewhere that lying on your right side is better as there is less pressure on the heart. I followed the advice and it seems to work for me. Please note that I can't recall where I read it, but I can't see the harm in lying on the right side.
