Weight training with osteoporosis
I have Osteoporosis and am 74 years off age. I exercise daily, static cycling for 5-10 minutes (I plan to work up), walking and gentle exercises. Weight training ... why?
Thanks, if someone has any pain in their back is it safe to do weight training for your back,
I'm not sure I can answer your question but I have AF and started going to our local Sports centre to lose some weight where I did static cycling (20mins) and walking on a treadmill, again for 20 mins. I asked my trainer, who was a qualified sports scientist, if I could do weights. He said a very definite no as it would be damaging to my heart. I think you need to be very careful about doing weight training for your Osteoporosis, my 74 year old gut says no... so please do get qualified advice as you don't want to do more damage.
That's one for your doctor, we're not medically trained and don't know your specifics.
If your doctor does ok it, there may be limitations, and you will likely need to inform the gym or PT.
