Hello you, no but would be interested why this would be any better than the Dapaglifloin you were on?

Is there less side affects? like the thrush?

Keeping an eye on this post.

Take care

I tried Dapagliflozin last year, but within a fortnight I had chronic back (shoulder) pain and had to stop taking them. I started on Empagliflozin on 8th November and now have, er, shall we say, bowel problems. I'm hoping that settles down quite quickly, or I'll be heading for the Metformin too.

My mother was on metformin even after her heart attack and surgery, but the heart and diabetic docs seemed to operate totally independently, and kept swapping her meds back and forth.

My mum was on Metformin and heart drugs for years after her bypass.

Diabetes has a direct correlation with coronary disease so many people (including myself) are taking meds for both.

I am also on long term anti - biotics as I have constant water infections because of the lack of immunity caused by diabetes which has been helpful as it has stopped any water infections that could happen from taking Jardiance which apparently makes you pee out sugar. I am drinking a lot more as they can make you dehydrated.

I was diagnosed with Diabetes in 2012 and was given Metformin and have stuck with it since. I had my bypass in 2017 then my stents in 2022 and have had an increase in my diabetic medication, still on the Metformin and now also take Sitagliptin and Jardiance, it has become harder and harder to control my blood/sugars by diet and medication and I am fighting against having to take insulin although it may be a losing battle.

So my long winded way of saying yes, I take diabetic medication and have heart problems!

Any questions please ask away.

Hi there, I have had diagnosed Heart Failure for 4 years and have, this week, been diagnosed with Diabetes. I have been prescribed Metformin for the latter and notice the leaflet states that if you have acute HF you shouldn't take it. Only hope my Dr is aware of this!! Hope the Metformin makes me less exhausted.

Hi Darny.

Acute HF is completely different to chronic HF.

Acute HF is an emergency situation which requires hospitalisation as it can be life threatening. Chronic HF is an ongoing medical condition (whether severe or mild) that is managed by medication to (hopefully) stop it becoming acute. Hope this puts your mind at rest but definitely speak to your GP if you have concerns.
