Hello everyone. It is quite a long time since I posted anything. I have Microvascular angina and vasospastic angina. I am on the maximum dose of Ranolazine. I have a lot of pitting oedema in my lower legs. Has anyone else experienced this?

No, when I was prescribed Ranolazine I ended up with palpitations and ectopic beats so stopped taking it. No swelling of my ankles though.

Ranolazine is a marmite medicine. It either works or doesn't.

The evidence suggests it's not necessarily helpful to treat vasospastic angina.

How was your microvascular and vasospastic angina diagnosed?

I was originally presumed to have microvascular angina and prescribed Ranolazine. The approach of the Cardiologist I saw at the time, was to guess what you had without proper testing. Then prescribe according to his list of medication rather than treating what the actual cause was.

Perhaps contact your Cardiologist for further advice?

I'm experiencing the same as Milkfairy did, they are doing a tick box exercise with my meds instead of actually testing for a definitive diagnosis. Ranolozine not doing anything for me, nor is nicorandil or diltiazem. I have a lot of pitting edaema in my left leg also especially around the ankle and foot.

I was diagnosed with MVA. Cardiologist put me on Ranolazine largely because my BP is low and most anti anginals lower it further (those based on nitrates). The diagnosis was "well your coronary arteries are OK therefore it must be small vessel disease "

I really did try with ranolazine, but the side effects were various and none of them were good. A bit of oedema but much sweating and general feeling of tiredness and even some chest pain plus lots of ectopics

So I stopped Ranolazine some 6 months ago. I would not advise anyone to do so without consulting a GP or other expert, so I paid to see a private cardiologist, and he agreed with my suggestion. (I don't take any anti anginals, apart from 1.25mg of bisoprolol which is not really an anti anginal)

I have been diagnosed with MVA and possibly left branch bundle block. So I take Ranolazine and Diltiazem. I was told that Ranolazine is a great drug. My dose was raised to the highest level due to persistent chest pain. I also take monomil (once a day) which was also increased. I decided to split monomil to twice a day; that alone reduced my chest down to the occasional ones . I reduced my monomil further but kept the frequency to twice a day

Ranolazine gave me severe constipation (it affects the colon movement). I reduced the dosage the lowest level. All is well now.
