I had an echocardiogram in June over two years late and it has taken them over four months to write to my GP. EF is 65% but there is thickening and scarring on the basal segment. Do you think it means one of my bad angina attacks was actually a heart attack? 🤔

Was It A Heart Attack?
Could be. I would follow up with GP asap.
I truly hope it wasn't Michael. Could it be caused by the OHS you had? I know they talk of scar tissue impacting on subsequent heart surgery but assumed it was around breastbone. It's maybe more academic interest as your surgery was some years ago.
Having cardiomyopathy can cause scarring without having had a heart attack, according to the BHf. I haven't looked up causes re thickening of the heart but would assume similar causes.
Apparently cardiomyopathy also causes thickening of the heart! Definitely ask your GP/medical team Michael

That's one for the Doctors... any number of things could cause scarring...
Lots of things can cause scarring, that's one for the cardiologists. But you have a left ventricle EF of 65% which is pretty good news, i.e it's normal
I only wish I had a LVEF of 65%! But definitely try to follow up, maybe with an MRI with contrast? That might provide a better look.
