hi I’ve been on Bisoprolol fumerate 1.25mg for a few months for a slight irregularity that was seen on a 24 hour heart monitor. My blood pressure is on the low side but since my valve replacement I have symptoms. The beta is making those symptoms a little worse. I will ask my specialist but was wondering if I could halve my tablet. If I don’t take it I’m scared that the ticking and thumping will be unbearable as well.

welcome on board.

Post valve replacement I too took 1.25mg bisoprolol and was inclined to blame that medication for everything. But 1.25mg is a a tiny dose. You really need to discuss any change in medication with your medic. When I stopped, my BP climbed from acceptable to bad. So now, if I can ever get in contact with my GP, I guess I must get back on the bisoprolol.

Blaming bisoprol was wrong. I should listen to proper medics first !

Best wishes

Sooty

hi iv have dilated cardiomyopathy and my heart races I was put on Bisoprolol 10mg which was keeping under control but still raced about once a day. But then they had to put up the dose to 12.5mg as it raced so fast I was passing out. I had a ICD fitted. After a year or so it started to race again so as a last result Iv had to go on amiodarone and reduce the Bisoprolol to 10mg which Iv now been on for 18 months and it’s working I wouldn’t reduce the Bisoprolol in less the hospital tells you to

if you are having problems with a medication and can not get advice from the prescribing doctor quickly, have you asked a pharmacist? they are easier to access and are the specialist in knowledge about medication side effects, dosage and timing - sometimes changing the timing of your medication can be helpful but it's best to seek advice from a qualified professional

i hope things improve for you soon

Hi Numberonedog- I’ve been on the same dose 1.25mg for about 6 months now - mitral and tricuspid regurgitation but no operation so far. As others have said I wouldn’t change the dose without consulting with a cardiologist and/or your GP - the symptoms you are experiencing are not necessarily the result of Bisoprolol. Hope it improves for you soon

Hi

For what it’s worth I just cut a1.25 in half using a pill cutter

Good control and much reduced side effects

Tried for a week and then just continued GP was fine about it and just asked for usual BP readings for a week

Keep well and stay safe

My bisoprolol sometimes produces very low blood pressure eg 85/65 and I always check my blood pressure before taking the tablet. If it is low a packet of crisps helps lift as it has salt in it.
